Eyal Lovett
Eyal Lovett is an Israeli jazz pianist and composer. Eyal Is currently studying at the Soloist Program at the Royal Danish Music Academy in Aalborg. He was chosen to be the 2017 “Artist of the year” by Jazzy Berlin. In June 2018 Eyal Lovett Trio won 1st place at the international competition JazzWings in Warsaw.

Lovett’s music is an inspiring combination of the classical- piano trio style, iconically represented by the likes of Bill Evans and Brad Mehldau, together with Israeli jazz and folk music (where artists like Avishai Cohen, Shai Maestro and Gilad Hekselman have a a major influence on Eyal), and traditional Mediterranean music.

Eyal’s 4th album, titled “Through the Rain” will be released Feb 2022 by Berthold Records.
Eyal’s 3rd album was recorded in October 2017, in a live concert in Horns Erben, Leipzig. The album was released July 2019, and features Eran Har Even(Amsterdam) on guitar. The Album was released by Berthold Records to critical acclaim.
Eyal’s 2nd album – “Tales From a Forbidden Land” was released on Oct 2016 to critical acclaim, and features Gilad Hekselman on Guitar. The album was released by the London based label Two Rivers Records as a double CD.
the music consist of original compositions, arrangements for standards and for Israeli songs. Eyal’s music comes from a wide range of influences – He is classically trained, and he is deeply immersed in the jazz tradition, as well as in the diverse music that is found in Israel and the Middle East.
Eyal has been touring through Europe and Israel constantly. Some performances highlights include the Aarhus International Jazz Festival, Jazzmeile festival, The Bern Jazz festival, XJAZZ , Tubingen Jazz Festival and more. As a solo artist Eyal has participated among others in Piano City Festival Naples, Vinterjazz Festival Aalborg, and Mezinárodní festival in Prague.
Eyal is also a well respected side man, and has played with the Kenneth Dahl Knudsen group, the Amit Friedman group, Dyki Lys, Yogev Shitrit and many more.
Eyal studied in the New School for jazz and contermporary music in New York with such musicians as Sam Yahel, George Cables, Hal Galper and Ari Hoening. Eyal is an award winning alumni of the first class of the prestigious joint program of The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music and The Israeli Conservatory. He continued his education at the New School in New York, where he was awarded scholarships for outstanding performance, and was chosen to represent the school in festivals in Europe.

Det kan i forvente
As an improvisor, I always want my music to have clear form, architecture and direction, i.e – to have “compositional” qualities. As a composer, I want my compositions to feel fresh, free, innovative – that is, “improvisational” qualities. My music walks on the line between those two worlds. My most important goal is to be able to tell a story, create an atmosphere, generate a feeling.
I come from the east, but educated in the west – my music draws from European, American, African and Arabic influences, but also from the Nordic scene and culture where I live now. Above all, I value honesty in music.
I think the audience can expect a concert where different, perhaps opposite sides of music blend organically, to tell a story that is created right now, but is rooted in the many different traditions that I come from.
